We’ve always had our eyes for The Hoxton ever since we first chanced upon this hotel design chain in London. With Amsterdam newly added to their repertoire, we decided that we had to stay there at whatever the cost during our short introduction to Amsterdam. This well-designed hotel is a great option for those looking for a stylish and uncompromising unique canal stay in Amsterdam.
The Hoxton Amsterdam first opened its doors along Herengracht in 2015. Once home to the Mayor back in the 17th century, the entire complex now houses 111 refurbished rooms spread across 5 floors with plenty of its original quirks and architecture in tact. Sharing the space is in-house restaurant, Lotti’s, run in partnership with Soho House & Co, a mezzanine coffee and cocktail den and The Apartment.
The front desk doubles up as a 24 hour reception and bar, decorated with various antiquities. Score local recommendations and dining tips from the friendly staff on duty. Do be sure to check out their well curated list of local spots here or browse a copy of their neighbourhood guide made available in every room.
Cosy Canal View, The Hoxton Amsterdam
The cosy room is equipped with a comfortable Queen bed, fluffy pillows – the whole nine, all thoughtfully curated for the best sleep. The space, though small, is cleverly designed with stylish and essential amenities suited for the modern traveller. Free Wi-Fi (available throughout the hotel), breakfast bag and international calls are all included in the room rate.
We highly recommend booking or asking for a room with canal view or on the higher floors. Use the calendar view when booking directly online to search for the best available rates if your dates are flexible.

The lobby bar dispenses drinks and snacks at high-street prices, making it easy to stock up on your favourite Danish wafels or beers directly in-house. Also, complimentary milk and water is refreshed in every room during room service or over the counter.
Located just a stone throw away from the heart of the city, wake yourself up to morning walks along the canal before heading to the bustling Nine Street for an afternoon fanfare with the locals. Bicycle hire is also available for guests to explore the city.
